Rescue dogs stolen from Carlsbad woman

Dr. Kim Lark has trained and handled several FEMA-certified rescue dogs, some helping in critical situations like the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon. Now she is devastated after saying her ex-husband stole three of her rescue dogs from her. Ted Maher, or Jon Green, lived in Carlsbad with Lark, his wife. According to police, Maher broke into Lark’s office in April when their relationship was ending. “He stole my checkbook, he stole my iPad, and he stole my paycheck,” Lark said. She says he stole thousands of dollars from her bank account and then tried to cash a check for $44,000. According to police, on May 12, 2022, Maher stole Clark’s car with his three trained service dogs inside. Jessie Rodriguez, captain of the Carlsbad police, said “Dr. Lark confirmed that her first sighting when she saw the moving vehicle was being driven by Mr. Green-Maher. wedding were really good,” Lark said. She says the dogs are so much more than just rescue dogs. One of them was pregnant and should have puppies now. “I missed their birth and was planning to be there for everything,” Lark said. Carlsbad police say they believe Maher had those intentions all along. “Our involvement happened to cause him to be in two parts. We’re confident it may have been an incident,” Rodriguez said of the $50,000 award for the safe return of her three dogs and the puppies.

“He stole my checkbook, he stole my iPad, and he stole my paycheck,” Lark said.

She says he stole thousands of dollars from her bank account and then tried to cash a check for $44,000.

According to police, on May 12, 2022, Maher stole Clark’s car with his three trained service dogs inside.

Carlsbad Police Captain Jessie Rodriguez said, “Dr. Lark confirmed that her first sighting when she saw the moving vehicle was driven by Mr. Green-Maher.”

Lark says Maher has a criminal history.

“Unfortunately, I believed his side of the story. But really, the first three years of our marriage were really good,” Lark said.

She says the dogs are more than just rescue dogs.

One of them was pregnant and should have puppies now.

“I missed their birth and planned to be there for everything,” Lark said.

Carlsbad police say they believe Maher had those intentions all along.

“Our involvement happened to cause it to be in two parts. We are confident that it can be an incident,” Rodriguez said.

Lark is offering a $50,000 reward for the safe return of his three dogs and the puppies.
