Javara and CVS Health join Parexel’s clinical trial alliance group

Contract Research Organization (CRO) Parexel created its Community Alliance Network, a program to further integrate clinical research into community health care. CVS Health and Integrated Research Organization (IRO) Javara joined the network as inaugural members.

For too long, clinical research has been siloed in small pockets of the health care system,“said Clare Grace, patient manager at Parexel.”Not only has this therapeutic innovation slowed, it has also limited patient access to clinical research as a care option. Providing patients with more opportunities to access and participate in clinical research — through their doctor’s office, at CVS MinuteClinics in designated HealthHUB locations, or through academic sites or traditional hospitals — is a critical decision and strategic. Parexel is leading the way in giving access to the 95% of patients not currently participating in research to design patient-centered clinical trials.

Over the past decade, Parexel has built its Site Alliance network, which includes more than 500 clinical research institutes and 21,000 principal investigators in more than 20 countries, with diverse site staff and patient populations across all therapeutic areas. According to the company, its network of community alliances builds on these efforts through partnerships with healthcare and research organizations that have close relationships and proximity to patients who previously had little or no ability to participate in clinical research.

“The traditional research delivery model does not effectively connect the majority of patients to clinical trial opportunities as part of a patient’s routine healthcare experience, and therefore only a small percentage is currently aware of research as a potential care option.“said Jennifer Byrne, CEO of Javara.”Parexel’s Community Alliance Network aligns perfectly with Javara’s mission to advance access to clinical research as a care option by connecting with patients through healthcare organizations and physicians that they already know and trust.

“IIt is a privilege to join this program as an inaugural member to further bridge the gap between clinical research and clinical care and bring trials to those who need it most.added Byrne.

“By joining the Community Alliance Network, we can continue to bring healthcare solutions to consumers within the communities where they live and work,“said Tony Clapsis, senior vice president and general manager of clinical trial services at CVS Health.”Through our community presence across the United States, we are able to expedite access to clinical trials and, at the same time, help address long-standing recruitment and diversity issues..”

Javara, Parexel, and CVS Health are participating in the DIA Global Annual Meeting, taking place June 19-23 in Chicago. Read here for more information or to register for the event.
