Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, received the ‘CILT Champion’ award on Wednesday, for his contributions to transport, logistics and supply chain management in Nigeria and Africa.
A statement from the media office of Dangote Industries Ltd said the industry giant received the award when the leadership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and its affiliates visited the Dangote Group headquarters. in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The statement said that Dangote, who is the Chairman/CEO of Dangote Group, while accepting the award presented by CILT National President, Mrs. Mfon Usoro, congratulated the institute.
The executives of CILT and its Women in Logistics and Transport (WILAT) were led by Usoro.
Dangote urged senior officials to improve the transport sector in Nigeria.

He promised to collaborate with the CILT in the areas of training and capacity building on transport, logistics and supply chain management issues.
The business tycoon stressed the need for adequate infrastructure, transportation and logistics to boost the economy.
He indicated that the Group could collaborate with the institute in the fields of transport and logistics, with training for the Group’s customers.
For his part, Usoro said the visit was aimed at informing Dangote about the institute’s leadership change and renewing the relationship between CILT and its Dangote Group member companies.
She highlighted the long relationship with the Dangote Group, which currently has five Institute Members, five Chartered Members, 18 Members and 47 CILT Affiliate Members.
Usoro sympathized with Dangote for the recent disappearance of the group’s vice president, Alhaji Sani Dangote.
CILT’s outgoing Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Jibril, is said to have praised the Dangote Group for creating wealth in Nigeria and Africa.
He commended the group for building capacity in logistics, transport and supply chain management in Nigeria.
Jubril unveiled Dangote’s achievements which have resulted in mass employment in Nigeria and across the continent.
“This is a development we are watching carefully and we are very proud of what the Dangote Group is doing under the leadership of the Chairman himself.
“On that note, we appreciate everything he has done, we appreciate everything the Dangote Group is doing, and at the end of the day, we think that is what Nigeria should benefit from,” he said. declared.
